The Chateau Frontenac is the most loved hotel in Quebec City, but is it the best? Finding the perfect place to stay can be challenging when travelling, but what are your options regarding the old capital? Let me present you with some of the best boutique hotels in Quebec City I enjoy to make you feel like royalty.
But First, What Is a Boutique Hotel?
You might not be familiar with boutique hotels. How are they different from other hotels? In sum, boutique hotels are often smaller, trendy, and considered high-end accommodations. Most of the time, they stand out because of their customer service and are not members of a chain.
Although they can be more expensive, boutique hotels are great choices because they are often located near popular attractions and ensure you have a pleasant stay.
What Are the Best Boutique Hotels in Old Quebec City?
If you plan to visit Quebec City, what are your options since there are hundreds of hotels? Since the historic district is the most popular neighbourhood, I found 5 boutique hotels in Quebec City you should consider booking because of their excellent reputation in this location.
Hotel du Vieux-Québec
The first boutique hotel on my list is the Hotel du Vieux-Quebec, which means ‘Old Quebec Hotel’ in French. It’s located in the tourist area of rue Saint-Jean and has one of the city’s best reputations and customer service.
All the main attractions of the old district can be reached on foot, and the hotel is close to Place d’Youville. In addition, breakfast can be served directly from your room.
Address: 1190 rue Saint-Jean, Quebec City
Le Manoir d’Auteuil
Le Manoir d’Auteuil is another excellent boutique hotel in Quebec City. This accommodation is slightly more distant from the Chateau Frontenac, but its quietness compensates. Do not worry; you can still easily explore the old town on foot.
Besides its great customer service, Le Manoir d’Auteuil stands out with its look and design. Indeed, this hotel has a vintage look that fits perfectly with the historic district.
Address: 49 rue d’Auteuil, Quebec City
Le Priori Boutique Hotel in Quebec City
If you prefer to stay in the lower part of the historic district, consider booking Le Priori. Indeed, it is only a few streets from the heart of the Quartier Petit-Champlain, the Saint-Lawrence River, and many excellent Italian restaurants, such as the Va Bene, the Sapristi, and the Matto.
Since it isn’t located on one of Quebec City’s most famous streets, it provides the calmness you need after a long walking day. In addition to its excellent customer service, people enjoy its free complimentary breakfast.
Address: 15 rue Sault-au-Matelot, Quebec City
Monsieur Jean—Hotel Particulier
If you are looking for a funkier or modern accommodation that stands out from other hotels, Monsieur Jean—Hotel Particulier is precisely what you need. Located inside the walled city, it is only a few minutes from the main attractions, next to city hall.
The rooms include a king-size bed and a small kitchen, perfect for a few days in Quebec City. Some suites also have a private balcony, with a few overlooking the old town.
Address: 2 rue Pierre-Olivier-Chauveau, Quebec City
Hotel des Coutellier
The last boutique hotel in Quebec City I want to suggest is the Hotel des Coutellier. This accommodation is in the old port district, near the Quartier Petit-Champlain and the La Gare du Palais train station. Therefore, if you come to Quebec City from Montreal by train, it is the perfect place to stay.
The Hotel des Coutellier is known for its comfy room and excellent customer service. Breakfast is also served directly in the rooms.
Address: 253 rue Saint-Paul, Quebec City
Our Editor Jennifer’s Hotel Pick
These 5 boutique hotels in the old town are amazing and all great suggestions. My favourite, however, definitely is Nomad Hotel right on the corner of the Château Frontenac. You can’t beat its location!
The place is amazingly decorated by passionate antique lovers and its lush beds are so comfortable. Service is impeccable and there is parking available. The smaller rooms are incredibly affordable compared to its neighbours! Book here!
In conclusion, there are many options for great boutique hotels in Quebec City. Whether you are looking for classic and luxurious accommodation or something more modern with a nice view, you will find what you need.

Preparing For Your Trip
When I look for things to do in my destination, I always have a look at Viator, GetYourGuide, Manawa, Civitatis and sometimes even Expedia.
It’s first off a great way to find out what there is to do, but always a quick and easy method to book cheaply and efficiently with these renowned platforms.
Need a place to sleep? I find most of my accommodations on Booking.com but I also use Hotels.com for their rewards program (11th free night) as well as Expedia. When booking smaller places in Quebec, you might not find them here and need to contact them directly.
Looking for a cheap flight to the Outaouais through Montreal? Have a look on Cheapoair or Skyscanner I use regularly.
Once you’re there, rent a car to roam free with DiscoverCars, AutoEurope or RentalCars or hop on a bus around Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec, and surrounding cities with Busbud.
