Going out is a must when you get together to celebrate, right? I love going out with a friend and chatting the night away with a cocktail. For craft cocktails, lively pubs, or a full-on nightclub experience, the capital has something for every type of drinker, from alcohol-free drinks to fancy cocktails. Here are my favourite and best bars in Quebec City!
For Craft Cocktails & Chic Lounges: L’Atelier and Le Bijou
Bistro L’Atelier is the spot for creative cocktails and a sophisticated yet energetic ambiance some people put on their featured bars in Quebec City list. Their mixologists craft some of the best drinks in the city, with an extensive menu featuring signature cocktails and twists on classics. The red velvet martini is a must-try. The stylish decor and buzzing atmosphere make it an excellent choice for a pre-dinner drink or a night of casual elegance.

A trendy bar I discovered recently is Le Bijou, the bar located inside the Monsieur Jean hotel. This spot really is a gem, and I completely fell head over heels for the place! I’m obsessed with their Bijou de famille gin cocktail. It’s perfectly balanced and just fancy enough to feel like a treat.
Pro tip: ask the bartender for the off-menu spicy rhum sour. It’s not listed, but trust me, it’s a total game changer. We loved it so much we circled back for round two!
For a Classic Pub Experience: Pub St-Patrick
Located in the heart of Old Quebec, Pub St-Patrick is perfect for those who love a traditional pub atmosphere with hearty beers and a relaxed crowd.
Housed in a historic stone building, this Irish pub serves an extensive selection of draft beers and whiskeys, making it ideal for a laid-back start to the night. Catch live music on weekends and soak up the warm, welcoming vibe.

For a High-Energy Nightclub: Bar Le Drague
If your bachelor party or night out calls for dancing and a lively party scene, Bar Le Drague is the place to go. This LGBTQ-friendly nightclub is one of the best in the city, featuring DJs, drag, themed parties, and high-energy performances.
The crowd is always fun and inclusive, making it a fantastic choice for those who want to let loose and dance the night away. It’s also only a few steps away from the Delta Quebec or Hilton Quebec hotels, as well as the convention centre.
For a Hidden Speakeasy Vibe: Justine
For a nostalgic yet trendy experience, head to Justine. This speakeasy-style bar blends a retro Prohibition feel with a great selection of creative cocktails. It’s a great choice for people looking for something unique and interactive before hitting the more traditional nightlife spots.
For Beer Lovers: La Korrigane
If you’re looking for something a bit different, La Korrigane is a microbrewery that offers an immersive experience in Quebec City’s Old Port. With a variety of craft beers and a relaxed vibe, this pub is perfect for beer lovers who want to sample local brews while enjoying the lively, rustic atmosphere.
For Live Music & Whiskey Lovers: Le Sacrilège
If the groom loves whiskey and live music, Le Sacrilège is a hidden gem worth visiting. With a cozy terrace in the back and a wide selection of scotch and craft beers, this bar is a local favourite. The atmosphere is chill yet social, making it a great stop for casual drinks before heading out.
Hidden Gems & Local Secrets
- Bar Sainte-Angèle – A hole-in-the-wall jazz bar where locals hang out. Small, cozy, and packed with great music!
- L’Oncle Antoine – A historic pub in a 17th-century stone cellar right in Place Royale of the Petit-Champlain neighbourhood, perfect for a laid-back round of drinks. Their mulled wine is a must in winter, and their French onion soup isn’t too shabby too!
- Midnight Poutine at Snack Bar Saint-Jean – Skip the touristy spots and grab a late-night poutine at this local favourite, open until 4 AM.
- Rue Saint-Joseph for Nightlife – Instead of the Old Town bars, check out Rue Saint-Joseph in the Saint-Roch district for trendier spots with fewer tourists.
Cheers to a Great Night Out in Quebec City!
Quebec City has a barstool with your name on it. I’ve loved discovering these best bars in Quebec City over the years, each one with its own vibe and personality, from elegant lounges to late-night poutine runs.
The best part, in my opinion? Everything’s within walking distance or a short Uber ride, making bar-hopping easy and fun. So, grab your crew, dress for the weather (this is Quebec, after all!), and get ready to explore the capital’s spirited nightlife. Santé!

Preparing For Your Trip
When I look for things to do in my destination, I always have a look at Viator, GetYourGuide, Manawa, Civitatis and sometimes even Expedia.
It’s first off a great way to find out what there is to do, but always a quick and easy method to book cheaply and efficiently with these renowned platforms.
Need a place to sleep? I find most of my accommodations on Booking.com but I also use Hotels.com for their rewards program (11th free night) as well as Expedia. When booking smaller places in Quebec, you might not find them here and need to contact them directly.
Looking for a cheap flight to the Outaouais through Montreal? Have a look on Cheapoair or Skyscanner I use regularly.
Once you’re there, rent a car to roam free with DiscoverCars, AutoEurope or RentalCars or hop on a bus around Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec, and surrounding cities with Busbud.
