On bad weather days, opting for indoor activities in Quebec City is a great way to stay warm and dry. History, art, sports, and culture, there are plenty of things to do in Quebec City on a rainy day. Letโs chat about some of my favourite things to for fun and indoor activities in Quebec City.
Musรฉe de la Civilisation
Steps away from the cobblestone streets of Old Quebecโs Lower Town, this museum is the best in the city. Musรฉe de la Civilisationโs (museum of civilization) main permanent exhibit focuses on local Indigenous history and culture and is the perfect starting point.
The museum is known for its interactive exhibits on pop culture, science, Quebec history, and more.
Musรฉe national des beaux-arts du Quรฉbec
Spend an afternoon wandering around the pavilions of Musรฉe national des beaux-arts du Quรฉbec (national museum of fine arts) and admire works by artists from around the world.
See some by famous Quebec artists like Jean-Paul Riopelle, marvel at the contemporary art installations, and admire the Inuit art collection.
There is a tasty cafรฉ on site, and trendy Avenue Cartier is a short walk away.
Dรฉfi รvasion
The best-rated escape room experience on TripAdvisor, Dรฉfi รvasion has 8 escape rooms to choose from. Pretend to be a spy or rob a bank. Or do both!
The minimum age is 12, and anyone under 16 years of age needs to be accompanied by an adult. There are rooms in French and English.

Shopping for Quebec Souvenirs
Technically, shopping is an outdoor and indoor activity, but on a rainy day in Quebec City, it can be a lot of fun! The busiest, and oldest, shopping street is rue du Petit-Champlain, with its 18th-century buildings and artisanal shops. Cรดte de la Fabrique in Upper Town has Quebecโs best department store, Simons. In Saint-Roch, shop at local boutiques on rue Saint-Joseph Est – including famed toy store, Benjo.
See a Remparts Hockey Game
The Quebec Remparts are part of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The team was founded in 1969, and past players have included Guy Lafleur, Eric Chouinard, and Simon Gagnรฉ.
The NHL is wonderful, but watching a junior league game can be a heart-stopping journey you wonโt forget. Home games are played at the Vidรฉotron Centre. Ticket prices start at 23 CAD.
Tour of Chรขteau Frontenac
As a 19th-century chรขteau-style hotel, Chรขteau Frontenac was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway as a destination property, and today it is the cityโs unofficial mascot.
This historic hotel has welcomed celebrities and political dignitaries. Take a walking tour with a costumed guide and learn about the hotelโs history, architecture, and secrets. Tours cost 27.57 CAD per person.
Visit Monastรจre des Augustines
Located in Old Quebec, beside Hรดtel-Dieu hospital, is Monastรจre des Augustines. The Augustine sisters arrived in 1639 and established Quebecโs first hospitals โ Hรดtel-Dieu being the first.
Today the monastery is a health and wellness retreat with a fascinating museum, wellness classes, a hotel, and health-food restaurant. Museum tours are highly recommended and cost 17 CAD.
Go Axe Throwing
If youโre looking for fun things to do in Quebec City on a rainy day, consider going axe throwing. Itโs a fab way to let out some aggression, and to kill a couple of hours. Tomahawk Quebec is located in Ste-Foy and features axe throwing, as well as a demolition room. Axe throwing is 23 CAD per person, and youโll need at least 2 people. The demolition room is 39.99 CAD per person. Book your space on their website.
Climb the Walls, Literally!
Head over to Beauport for indoor rock climbing at Dรฉlire Escalade Beauport. There are 3 climbing gyms to choose from, and a day pass costs just 23.50 CAD.
Dรฉlire offers a handful of classes, including a women-only indoor and outdoor training class. First-time visitors will receive a 5-20-minute orientation.
Mรฉga Parc
Itโs the best indoor amusement park in Quebec, and dare I say, Canada? Yes, itโs better than West Edmonton Mall. Located inside Galeries de la Capitale, Mรฉga Parc has 18 attractions.
Ride the carousel or try Force G. Helix is like spinning teacups, but itโs helicopters, and thereโs a 750 ft indoor skating track. One-day wristbands are 26.49 CAD per person.
Splash Around at Bora Park Indoor Waterpark
Located at Village Vacances Valcartier (also the location of the Ice Hotel), Bora Park Indoor Waterpark is splashtastic. There are around 14 water slides, and a surf wave.
La Riviera is perfect if you want to lay in an inner tube and float around. You donโt have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the water park. Day passes start at 44.99 CAD per person when purchased online. Tickets bought onsite at +5 CAD.
See a Show in Quebec City!
Quebec City has a spectacular arts scene. From live music performances in bars and pubs to drag shows, dance, orchestra performances, comedians, plays, and more.
The best performing arts venues are Le Diamant, Palais Montcalm, Grand Thรฉรขtre de Quรฉbec, and Impรฉrial Bell.
During the Christmas holiday season, musical performances as Monastรจre des Augustines and Cathedral of the Holy Trinity are a must see.
This is a handful of the fun and fabulous indoor activities in Quebec City. There are several microbreweries for those who want to truly immerse themselves in Quebecโs craft beer culture. Sun-bathed libraries to admire and museums to wander.
Some think an indoor farmerโs market is a heavenly activity, while others love communing in religious buildings throughout the city. In other words, there are enough Quebec City rainy day activities to keep you busy for a while.
