I was about 12 the first time I travelled to Tadoussac with my parents, as many Quebecers do during family vacations in Quebec. Even if it’s often tourists who spend a day or a weekend in Tadoussac and its surroundings, the village, and especially the nearby attractions, are most definitely worth visiting to absorb the invigorating sea air of this essential maritime Quebec region!

Spending a Night in the Famous Hotel Tadoussac
I was lucky to spend the night in Tadoussac at the hotel of the same name, the Hôtel Tadoussac which had impressed me so much as a child. The place is huge and right in the centre of the small town. You can’t miss it.
It’s overpriced, but an iconic experience if you’re up for a cool night in town. You will certainly take pictures of the place even if you don’t sleep there. The location is second to none, the rooms are pretty, but lackluster and the heated outdoor pool is most enjoyable!

You can simply sit in an Adirondack chair admiring the view, take a dip in the heated pool or spend time finishing a puzzle in the reception living room if it rains. The local pace is slow, perfect for a relaxing vacation in Quebec.
If you’re thinking of booking the Hotel Tadoussac or another establishment in Tadoussac, clicking on these links to book will help me continue the blog without costing you more (Thank you!).

A few other suggestions on where to stay in Tadoussac
- The Gîte Le Goéland cottage is no frills, but cozy, offers private rooms with shared bathrooms and is a really good value for money in my opinion.
- Bedrooms with shared bathrooms on a site with a rustic feel at the Gîte Le Roupillon Bed and Breakfast. Excellent breakfast.
- The brightly coloured rooms of the Hôtel-Motel Le Béluga are comfortable and well located in the heart of Tadoussac. I recommend that you choose the balcony option.
- Find yourself in the forest, in one of the chalets or camping pitches at the Chalets-Camping Le Domaine des Dunes. There are also ready-to-camp tents and tipis if you are a glamping enthusiast. View of the river, hebertism course, jacuzzi, water games and bicycle rental.

A Cheaper Alternative: Tadoussac Youth Hostel (Maison Majorique)
This youth hostel has dormitories for 2 to 16 people (quite small) and private rooms. People come mainly for the atmosphere and the social side, concerts and community dinners.
A night at Maison Majorique is pleasant and inexpensive, but you’ve got to like the festive side of the place as well as the basic accommodation style.
It had been years since I’d been around Tadoussac on Quebec’s Whale Route, but I remembered very well how grand the Hotel Tadoussac appeared, how admiring the shallow observation basins at Les Escoumins impressed me or hearing the sound of whales not far from the Grandes-Bergeronnes rocks made me feel…

No matter where you stay in Tadoussac, you’ll love this place, I promise!
